Pause
In timely fashion we grow towards
uncertainty—surely, the cat won’t
forgive souring milk in the fridge.
Nettle pesto, pine nuts and a slice of lime
small pleasures that invite self-deception
—not to mention, you’re much, too close.
This choice we make to live like sardines
in small cans, here I see myself in you and
refuse to recognize the mirror reflection.
She shook a finger and said, “Remember this,
all your disdain of another lives within.”
—So much for afternoon tea and lemon cake.
Seeking luxuries that won’t resolve the blue sky
dreaming mixed confusion—turn up the
volume for discrete waves of information.
Tiny petals drift and swirl in the breeze, shifting
unforeseen constellations… watch the sun break
through glistening branches and white blossoms.
