To be human
is to sense everything
and to release everything
—nothing belongs to us.
Here, I am a guest cradled in the arms of
this blue-green, spinning miracle.
I am swirling the Milky Way through this body.
I am skipping a river in and out of this heart place.
I am breathing a mangrove forest into these lungs.
I am tears pearling down a young child’s face.
I am the ache and thirst of Gaia’s shifting Tectonic plates.
I am streaming, sparkling, showering Lotus light;
the waking unfolding universe dreams
my veins, my flesh, my bones in the rain.
I am dancing Venus into her salmon skirts.
I am creating all this and I am One.
You are not other than I
the vast dazzling sky.
I am—yet nothing belongs to me
not even the I that believes—I am.
